Happy to see Joaquin win it he deserved it, hope he"s okay though that character takes a toll to play. So that special type of shotgun only fires 6. This makes me wanna play some GTA. Joaquins joker made me just wanna give him a hug. people can be so cruel. Joker is a different movie. Having watched epic movies which took the superheroes" universe to a more human, real and violent level, such as The Dark Knight or Logan, nothing was preparing us for Joker.
Making a movie telling the origin story of one of the most charismatic characters in comics was a risky and difficult task considering the obvious pressure from the ancestors who portrayed him. Joker transcends it all to make pure cinema.
A dramatic story, cruel and frightening of how real it is. A magnificent Joaquin Phoenix, worthy of all prizes just for the first five minutes, capable of making us feel every single anguished smile, macabre dances and silences which shows the struggle to fight a waking demon pushed by a dead, corrupt and unfair society.
Todd Phillips, director and writer, shows us the best of techniques. Cinematography, the subtle soundtrack, everything works perfectly. It all comes together in creating the necessary tension surrounding the character development and which keeps us hanging on the edge of our seats for as good as it works.
Joker proved this kind of movies have got everything to succeed when they"re approached the right way; when they paint a world so realistic among the fiction that makes us immerge profoundly in the plot and feel tempted by the ideology of a criminal. A criminal whose origin came by the very same violence that created his nemesis.
This film lives up to the hype. It was superbly crafted and I can smell the Oscar nominations already. I will also say it was probably one of the most psychologically disturbing films I"ve ever seen and I"m not in any hurry to see it again any time soon.
But do yourself a favour, see it on the big screen, it"ll add to the intensity. Jimmy: You are fantastic in it! Joaquin: Okay. lol.
